The Church in the City Implementation Committee invites you to: |

Establish
a Diocesan Regional Land Use Policy Committee to
promote and advocate policies that are economically,
socially, environmentally and morally responsible. The
committee will be staffed and be accountable to the
Diocesan Social Action Office. |

Support parish
participation in local planning efforts such as the
Medina County project in which Catholic parishes have
joined with other faith communities and the local
government in small discussion groups to provide for
citizen input into the formation of a county growth plan.
People are being encouraged to bring their moral and
social values into the public discussion concerning the
future of their county. |
Look for
opportunities to address local development issues from
the perspective of The Church in the City. |

Continue voter
registration opportunities being provided through
many parishes in the diocese. |
Register
and exercise your voter rights in an informed manner.
Take advantage of opportunities to be informed on issues
and candidates. Obtain copies of Political
Responsibility, reflections on the 1996 elections as
published by the United States Catholic Conference. |

Continue
to cooperate with the Regional Environmental
Priorities Project centered at Case Western Reserve
University which is addressing regional growth and land
use issues. |
Attend a
follow up session to the previous area forums as planned
for 1996. |
|
|
Utilize
efficient technology to disseminate timely information
and advice on local, state and national issues as well as
listings of upcoming opportunities for leadership
training, forums, resources and events related to Social
Action and advocacy issues.
