The Church in the City
Implementation Committee
invites you to:

Establish a Diocesan Regional Land Use Policy Committee to promote and advocate policies that are economically, socially, environmentally and morally responsible. The committee will be staffed and be accountable to the Diocesan Social Action Office. Contact Len Calabrese (216-696-6525x306) with issues and concerns.

Support parish participation in local planning efforts such as the Medina County project in which Catholic parishes have joined with other faith communities and the local government in small discussion groups to provide for citizen input into the formation of a county growth plan. People are being encouraged to bring their moral and social values into the public discussion concerning the future of their county. Look for opportunities to address local development issues from the perspective of The Church in the City.

Continue voter registration opportunities being provided through many parishes in the diocese. Register and exercise your voter rights in an informed manner. Take advantage of opportunities to be informed on issues and candidates. Obtain copies of Political Responsibility, reflections on the 1996 elections as published by the United States Catholic Conference.

Continue to cooperate with the Regional Environmental Priorities Project centered at Case Western Reserve University which is addressing regional growth and land use issues. Attend a follow up session to the previous area forums as planned for 1996.

Utilize efficient technology to disseminate timely information and advice on local, state and national issues as well as listings of upcoming opportunities for leadership training, forums, resources and events related to Social Action and advocacy issues.

Call the new Legislation Hot Line that has been established at the Catholic Center by the Diocesan Social Action Office. It will be updated on a weekly basis (216) 696-6525, or toll-free within Ohio 800-869-6525 x669.
