CITC introduced at High-Tech network meeting
September 17, 2019 – On September 16, the Meet & Greet room on Novio Tech Campus was filled with guests for the first High-Tech network meeting of the season. Employees from several companies on campus such as Ampleon and NXP attended. They were presented three interesting stories.
Micro Precision Calibration
After an introduction by host Johan Kluitmans, Micro Precision Calibration kicked off. This company has been on the Novio Tech Campus in Nijmegen for two years. Although the team here seems small, Micro Precision has 2,000 employees worldwide. Some of them were present at the meeting. The company started as a family business in the U.S. Now, they calibrate and repair a wide range of equipment all over the world. They are the market leader in the U.S.
NTS
The second speaker was NTS. The company, which operates globally has customers such as Philips. It introduced itself to the High-Tech network. They also gave an update on construction status of their new premises on Novio Tech Campus. There was a quick explanation about the other locations and how this comes together in their new Nijmegen location. NTS also discussed new developments. For example, the parts that NTS produces are used in an LED Endo Illuminator for eye operations. In April 2020, the new NTS building is ready for use.
Introduction CITC
Barry Peet from BCSEMI NL announced the Chip Integration Technology Center (CITC) during the third presentation. This was his last speech as director of BCSEMI NL. From October 1, he will take on the role of general manager CITC. Barry Peet told about the establishment of the CITC and the current work. CITC is an open innovation center in the chip industry. It provides solutions by collaborating with universities and companies to speed up the entire process. Currently, CITC is working with TU Delft and HAN. In the future CITC also wants to collaborate with Radboud University.
CITC started as an initiative from BCSEMI and Novio Tech Campus. The partners TNO and TU Delft have also made a lot of effort into realizing the center. In addition, the province of Gelderland, the municipality of Nijmegen and PhotonDelta have made this project possible through their investments. CITC hopes to become a partner of the many High-Tech companies around Nijmegen. It ultimately aims to accelerate and innovate developments in chip integration.
Attendees finished the evening with a network BBQ. It was a successful event for the High-Tech Network in the Nijmegen region. Join us on the next High-Tech network meeting on November 15, 2019 on Novio Tech Campus!
